Finally, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) News has a responsive website (beta version). This latest development, according to the media giant, is an attempt to please mobile visitors to their site.
Robin Pembrooke, Head of Product, BBC News in BBC’s official blog, “Online, we’re globally reaching more people than ever before – we now see 145 million visitors a month, and in the last month we’ve also seen our highest ever weekly reach of 57 million visitors.”
The Responsive News team’s tech lead John Cleveley, and lead designer Julian Kirby are particular that the mobile visitors to the News website should get the ultimate viewing experience across all devices ranging from a basic Nokia phone to a 4G device.
BBC News’ new responsive design is available for 15 of the 30 languages that BBC provides news in. The company expects to complete the roll out in the first half of 2014.
This latest development in BBC News speaks in volumes about the importance of a responsive website design (RWD) which you can’t afford to ignore anymore.
