The challenge

A large medical research organization in the United States needed to replace a fragmented set of internal communication tools with a single, secure, and centralized intranet platform. The organization operated across multiple departments and research units, each with distinct access requirements, content workflows, and governance structures.

Their existing setup was held together with workarounds. Announcements were distributed over email. Documents were stored across disconnected systems. There was no unified platform for team collaboration, funding visibility, organizational charts, or internal recognition. Leadership had no reliable way to publish controlled content to specific teams without manual coordination

Purpose-built CMS covering grants and research projects, funding opportunities, administrative teams, organizational charts, internal library, and internal announcements. Each content type has its own structured data model, publishing workflow, and access restriction layer.
